Green Jobs, Green Futures Summit 2023

The Green Jobs, Green Futures Summit was a signature event sponsored by the members of Coalition for Climate Careers (C3), the mission of which is to connect frontline communities (those who experience climate change first and worst) to living wage career opportunities in the green economy to build a diverse and skilled workforce in our region.

Held on September 29, 2023, The Summit was an interactive, one-day event in Fremont highlighting organizations, small businesses, contractors, and employers in the green economy sectors: construction, transportation, manufacturing, and professional services/technology. Hosted by the King County Climate Team, it was an opportunity for businesses and employers in the green economy to showcase their work through engaging and hands-on demo stations while connecting with the community and youth.

The Green Jobs, Green Futures Summit was a huge success -- with over 400 attendees across Seattle high schools, community-based organizations, and the general public, the event underscored the importance of creatively engaging with community to grow excitement around green jobs in our region.

Some of the demo stations at the event included:

Virtual reality (VR) solar stations facilitated by VR company, SIXR.
Hemp building material station facilitated by agro-tech company Bio Fiber Industries.
Electrical circuitry demo station facilitated by the Puget Sound Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee.
Heat pump and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station demo facilitated by Seattle City Light.
Interactive wastewater treatment plant model and water quality analysis demo station by King County Wastewater Treatment Division.
